What Lasts Forever
We started off 2020 with various stories of Sungshin students and graduates, including former national figure skater Lee Hojung and the leaderships of the 33rd General Student Council, Daone. As the importance of social distancing was accented for the sake of everyone, new alternatives to substitute our daily lives were suggested and postponements of prearranged events were inevitable for us as well. Sungshin quickly switched to online classes and students slowly adapted to the unprecedented situation. Affected by the disordered atmosphere, the 239th edition was filled with current trends regarding COVID-19. As the second semester started amid continuing anxieties, we prepared the 240th edition by gathering our interests in women, history and culture. In October, we dealt with sustainability in a wider range, regarding the environment and not just human, but the welfare of animals as well.
This edition, the last of 2020, shows every improvement we made throughout the year. Inside and out, increasing instability filled the air, and we withstood our frustration by reminding how we started. Focusing on writing and publishing, we were able to quickly shift our method of work online, and cooperate through video conferencing platforms, maintaining faith in each other. With newly joined reporters and designers, the foundation we established will stand still throughout any other obstacle ahead. The limitations we met does not define who we are, and therefore I send unstinting applause to the promising future of the Mirror.
You Quiz on The Block, an entertainment talk show hosted by Yoo Jae-suk and Jo Seho, meets people of all ages with various backgrounds. In a calm, courteous, humorous manner, the two men listen to their stories and provide a chance to solve a quiz and win a cash prize of ₩1,000,000. From a public officer who works at an uninhabited island to successful businesswomen and autopsy specialists who work at the boundary of life and death, this show possesses the attraction of presenting diverse people and common, universal concerns. By the articles in the 15 magazines I joined, the ultimate goal that I yearned to enclose was to mirror the stories of others and project it in a respectful tone. It was an honor to be able to work with talented colleagues and professors, and to be able to communicate with our beloved readers.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to everyone.
Sincerely,
By Na Hyunah, Editor-in-Chief (pseudonym98@naver.com)
