On June 5, Sungshin Women's University hosted the 2nd Sungshin Global Festival at the Soojung Campus with the aim of fostering friendship and active exchange between international and Korean students, while promoting an inclusive and global campus culture.
This large-scale festival welcomed approximately 700 international students, including full-degree students from various countries, students from the International School of Korean Culture and Technology, GKS scholarship recipients, exchange students, and Korean language students from the International Education Institute.
The festival featured a rich array of programs, including cultural arts booths where participants could experience the unique traditions of different countries, global food booths offering diverse and exotic tastes from around the world, and cultural performances by country that showcased a blend of traditional and contemporary performances by international students.
Korean and international students alike enjoyed engaging with the booth activities prepared by students from various countries. Through these experiences, they were able to communicate and develop a deeper understanding of each other's cultures.
Office of International and External Affairs Dean Hyungmin Lee remarked, “The Sungshin Global Festival was more than just a celebration— it was a meaningful opportunity to foster global citizenship by encouraging respect for and understanding of diverse cultures. We will continue to strengthen our students’ multicultural sensitivity and cultural inclusivity through consistent international exchange programs.”
The event was organized by the Sungshin International Student Association (SISA), a student-led organization that supports international students in adjusting to campus life and actively promotes interaction between Korean and international students. Supported by the Office of International Affairs and Services, SISA regularly plans and manages various programs throughout the semester, such as the International Student Orientation, Global Friends Night (major mentoring, tutoring, and buddy programs), volunteer activities in Korean society, global sports festivals, career and employment education, farewell parties, and year-end events.
