Sungshin Women’s University (President Seong-Keun Yi) held a signboard unveiling ceremony for the new International Education Center on Wednesday, September 17, at 2 p.m. at the Soojung Campus in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. The facility was formerly known as the Media Information Hall.

Attended by more than 50 distinguished guests, including Sungshin Women’s University President Seong-Keun Yi, the ceremony marked the official unveiling of the newly established Global Education Hall. The facility was introduced in response to the rapid increase in the number of international students studying at Sungshin, and to highlight the university’s growing stature as a leading hub for global education.

The Global Education Hall, formerly known as the Media Information Hall, has been fully renovated with a focus on internationalization and renamed to reflect its new mission. In particular, it has expanded classrooms for the Korean Language Institute to meet rising demand for Korean language education, while also strengthening infrastructure for systematic language and global education programs tailored to international students.

President Seong-Keun Yi of Sungshin Women’s University stated, “The Global Education Hall is a symbolic space that represents Sungshin’s leap forward as a global education hub. Going forward, it will play a vital role in expanding a global learning environment where students of diverse nationalities can learn and grow together.”

Meanwhile, Sungshin Women’s University has been recognized as an “Excellent Certified University” for 11 consecutive years in the Ministry of Education’s International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) evaluation, the highest rating awarded. The university has also achieved significant results across a wide range of government-invited international scholarship programs, including the GKS undergraduate and graduate degree programs, the Korea-Japan Joint International Student Exchange Program, the Korea-Japan Future Talent Invitation Program, and the GKS University-Industry Cooperation (UIC) Program. Through these initiatives, along with diverse international scholarship and exchange projects, Sungshin has continued to expand its global reach. As of the 2025 Fall semester, the university hosts 773 language trainees from 23 countries, further solidifying its status as a global university.
