Sungshin Women’s University (President Yi Seong-Keun) has been selected for the “2026 Government Scholarship Program for Outstanding Exchange Students (GKS)” hosted by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for International Education (NIIED).
The GKS Outstanding Exchange Student Program is one of Korea’s international scholarship initiatives operated by the Ministry of Education and NIIED to attract talented individuals from around the world. The program supports exceptional foreign exchange students from various countries so they can pursue academic studies and research at Korean universities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Having been selected for this program for five consecutive years, Sungshin Women’s University ranked in the top 1–10 tier among the 40 universities chosen nationwide. As a result, the university secured an allocation of eight foreign scholarship recipients per semester—sixteen per year—in 2026, the maximum quota granted only to the top 10 institutions. Selected exchange students will receive scholarships as well as airfare support.
Lee Hyung-min, Director of International Affairs at Sungshin Women’s University, stated, “This program is meaningful as it offers study opportunities in Korea not only to students from ODA partner countries but also to those from African and Latin American nations, as well as the 22 countries that participated in the Korean War. Sungshin Women’s University will continue to recommend and attract outstanding students from diverse backgrounds, further contributing to enhancing diversity on campus.”
Meanwhile, Sungshin Women’s University is producing outstanding results across various government-sponsored international scholarship and exchange programs, including GKS degree programs for undergraduate and graduate students, the GKS University-Industry Cooperation (UIC) program, Korea–Japan joint exchange programs, and the Korea–Japan Future Talent Invitation Program.
