Sungshin Women’s University (President Yi Seong-keun) has been selected for the highest rating, “Excellent Certified University,” for 12 consecutive years in the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), an evaluation administered by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

The IEQAS is a comprehensive evaluation system designed to enhance the quality of Korean higher education and its international credibility by assessing universities’ capabilities in attracting and managing international students. Institutions are classified into four categories: ▲Excellent Certified University ▲Certified University ▲General University ▲Visa Screening Reinforced University (Consulting University, Visa-Restricted University).

Being designated as an Excellent Certified University for 12 consecutive years is considered an exceptionally rare achievement in the higher education sector. It requires universities to consistently meet the Ministry of Education’s strict indicators—such as illegal stay rates, dropout rates, and international students’ certified language proficiency—for more than a decade, objectively demonstrating that Sungshin Women’s University’s international student management system has reached a top-tier national standard.

As an Excellent Certified University, Sungshin Women’s University will receive official administrative and financial support from the Ministry of Education, including simplified visa issuance procedures for international students, additional points in the selection of host universities for the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) program, and opportunities to participate in overseas Korean education fairs.

The foundation of this long-standing achievement lies in the university’s systematic support infrastructure for international students. Centered on the International Exchange Support Team, the university operates an integrated management system covering the entire process—from pre-arrival education to academic and daily life adjustment. Through major mentoring, buddy, and tutoring programs, it also promotes interaction between domestic and international students. Last year alone, the university operated more than 50 international student support programs, enhancing international student satisfaction while strengthening the global competencies of domestic students.

Building on this certification, the university expects to further strengthen its competitiveness in attracting outstanding global talent. The number of international students is projected to reach approximately 2,000 by the Spring 2026 semester, reflecting the success of diverse degree programs and a tailored educational environment for international students. In particular, the English-taught tracks newly established in 2025 within the School of Global Studies—Beauty & Fashion Design and K-Culture & Entertainment—are contributing to increased international student recruitment by addressing global demand.
