Sungshin Women’s University has announced the reappointment of President Sungkeun Lee.
On May 21, the Board of Directors of the Sungshin Educational Foundation, chaired by Hyanggi Kim, appointed Professor Sungkeun Lee of the Department of Business Administration as the 13th President of Sungshin Women’s University. Following his service as the 12th President, Lee will continue to lead the University as its 13th President. His new four-year term will commence on July 1, 2026, and run through June 30, 2030.
Earlier, on May 12, the University conducted an election for the 13th presidential candidate, in which all members of the Sungshin community—including faculty, staff, students, and alumni—participated. President Lee secured first place with 66.48 percent of the valid votes cast.
President Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Korea University in 1985. He later received both his master’s and doctoral degrees in Business Administration from Korea University Graduate School, as well as a Doctor of Science degree in Statistics. Since joining Sungshin Women’s University as a professor in the Department of Business Administration in 2004, he has held several key leadership positions, including Dean of Planning and Information and Vice President for External Affairs. Since assuming office as the University’s 12th President in June 2022, he has led a wide range of institutional initiatives aimed at advancing the University’s growth and competitiveness.
Commenting on his reappointment, President Lee stated: “I feel a profound sense of responsibility as I undertake this important role once again. Sungshin’s next step will represent a major turning point—a bold departure from conventional higher education models and a Big Step toward building an entirely new educational ecosystem. By fostering a campus where autonomy and creativity thrive, we will achieve a qualitative leap in research and education while expanding our global reach. Together with all members of the Sungshin community, we will complete a new university model that is uniquely Sungshin.” President Lee emphasized his commitment to strengthening the University’s distinctive educational identity while advancing its vision as a globally engaged institution.
