[Office of International Affairs and Services] Cultivating K-Beauty Talent in China: Second Cohort Graduates from the Korea–China Cooperative Makeup Design Program
Second Cohort of Korea–China Cooperative Makeup Design Program Graduates Successfully Completes Studies, Demonstrating the Successful Localization of Korea’s K-Beauty Education Model in China

On July 7, Acting President Wonho Lee of Sungshin Women’s University and members of the University delegation pose for a commemorative photograph with representatives of Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology and graduates of the second cohort of the Korea–China Cooperative Makeup Design Program in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China.
Sungshin Women’s University (Acting President Wonho Lee) continues to advance K-beauty education in China through its Korea–China Cooperative Makeup Design Program, jointly operated with Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. The program recently celebrated the graduation of approximately 70 students from its second cohort, further strengthening the cultivation of beauty industry professionals equipped with internationally competitive expertise..
The Korea–China Cooperative Makeup Design Program, jointly operated by Sungshin Women’s University and Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology, is a collaborative educational model (3+1, 2+1+1)* that applies the educational infrastructure and curriculum of Sungshin Women’s University’s Department of Beauty Industry in China. The curriculum, centered on the concept of “Five Aesthetic Values and One Specialty” (五美一专) introduced by the two institutions, has been recognized for its success, as evidenced by the high employment and graduate school admission rates achieved by participating Chinese students. *3+1: Three years at Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology followed by one year at Sungshin Women’s University after transfer admission. 2+1+1: Two years at Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology, one year as an exchange student at Sungshin Women’s University, and one additional year at Sungshin Women’s University after transfer admission.

Since establishing Korea’s first four-year university department dedicated to makeup design in 2011, Sungshin Women’s University has continuously expanded its educational scope. Renamed the Department of Beauty Industry in 2017, the program now offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary curriculum encompassing makeup design, cosmetic science, beauty marketing, and AI-driven smart beauty technologies. Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology, a public institution specializing in fashion and textile education within Zhejiang Province, benefits from the region’s robust e-commerce, live-commerce, and media industries. As a result, the Korea–China Cooperative Makeup Design Program, which combines Zhejiang’s industrial strengths with Sungshin’s educational expertise in K-beauty, has attracted considerable interest from Chinese students since its launch.

Acting President Wonho Lee remarked, “The successful implementation of Sungshin Women’s University’s beauty education infrastructure at Zhejiang Fashion Institute of Technology has enabled the cultivation of outstanding talent in the field.” He added, “We hope that graduates who have completed K-beauty education through this program will go on to play leading roles in the beauty and media industries of both Korea and China.”
Building on the success of the second graduating cohort, Sungshin Women’s University plans to further expand the academic and industrial influence of K-beauty education on the global stage through continued international collaboration and talent development initiatives.
