Jawaharlal Nehru University Representative Visits Sungshin Women’s University to Discuss Global Academic Cooperation

On July 3, 2026, Associate Professor Neerja Samajdar from the Korean Language Department at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), India, visited Sungshin Women’s University to discuss opportunities for expanding academic cooperation and strengthening the partnership between the two institutions.

The meeting took place at Woonjung Green Campus and was attended by representatives from Sungshin Women’s University, including Professor Ilhwan Kim from the Department of Korean Language and Literature, Professor Minkyung Jang from the International School of Korean Culture and Technology, and officials from the , International Affairs and Services Team.

During the meeting, representatives exchanged institutional overviews and shared perspectives on potential areas of cooperation. In particular, discussions centered on opportunities to advance globally oriented academic initiatives and to explore broader avenues for institutional collaboration. Both sides expressed their interest in developing mutually beneficial opportunities that could further enhance the international engagement of their respective universities.

Jawaharlal Nehru University, a central university in India, is recognized for its academic and research strengths in the fields of languages and area studies. Its Korean Language Department currently has approximately 150 students and maintains a strong academic focus on Korean literature, Korean language education, Korean studies, and Korean culture, providing an important foundation for academic exchange and cooperation with Korean institutions.

Building on these shared academic interests, the two institutions also exchanged views on the potential for expanding student mobility and academic exchange, including future opportunities for exchange students. The discussion highlighted the value of developing sustained channels of cooperation and broadening opportunities for students and faculty to engage in an international academic environment.

The visit served as a meaningful opportunity to enhance mutual understanding and identify promising directions for future collaboration.
