Welcome all international students to Fall 2024 semester at Sungshin! On September 21st Saturday, we opened the Fall 2024 Welcome Event for all new and enrolled international students. The Welcome Event was held at the newly remodeled Suharu Cafe located in Sungshin Building 5th floor. Prepared by the International Affairs and Service Team and new members of the Sungshin International Student Association (SISA), 71 students attended this event to get to know each other, play indoor/outdoor games and have food together.We look forward to an exciting new semester!

Kimyo International University in Tashkent (KIUT) and Tashkent Korean Education Center delegation from Uzbekistan visited Sungshin campus on August 8th, 2024. On this day, President Dr. Seong Keun Yi and Chairman Dr. Alisher Vakhabov of KIUT held the signing ceremony of the Agreements between the two universities. KIUT delegation of Chairman Vakhabov, Professor Yun Hoe Kim and Professor Durdona Ergasheva of Korean Studies, Mr. Aziz Hamidzonov, as well as Director Ju-man Paeng of Tashkent KEC, Vice Director Eun-gyu Lee, Ms. Parida and Ms. Hanbenera shared ideas on how to activate student and faculty mobility, as well as research in Korean studies.

On July 19th 2024, Sungshin Women's University and the United States Embassy in Korea hosted the historic United States Navy Band to Woonjung Green Campus. Titled "A Midsummer Night's Music Concert," this meaningful performance was open to the public free of charge and attended by 700 guests including local residents, Sungshin members, the U.S. Embassy in Korea, ROTC cadets from the Army Cadet Military School, and 13 Korean War veterans residing in Seongbuk-gu(district) and Gangbuk-gu, where SWU campuses are located.This concert provided opportunities for cultural exchanges and strengthening of US-ROK relations, as well as sharing of music and culture among all participants.There were also special performances by the Sungshin Brass Quintet, Ms. Chae-hee Moon who is the 64th candidate for the 218th ROTC and the Military Quartet of the Ministry of National Defense.The final performance of Arirang by the US Navy Band received standing ovation from the audience.

On June 14th 2024, Sungshin welcomed the participants of the Fulbright Foundation AIEA Program organized by the U.S. State Department and the Korea-U.S. Education Commission to our Woonjung Green Campus. On this day, the AIEA participants met with professors from the Department of Beauty Industry and shared insights into the global programs offered at Sungshin and toured major facilities on campus.First, Professor Juhee Choi gave a presentation on the curriculum and overview of the Department of Beauty Industry, our university's specialized programs for international students in the Department, such as Korea-China Joint Cooperative Dual-Degree programs and K-Beauty short-term programs offered during summer seasons, as well as career paths for students majoring in Beauty and Fashion Industry.Then the professors and students from the Department of Beauty Industry offered Korean beauty and make-up demonstrations. We look forward to further opportunity to meet and cooperate with AIEA representatives!

The Office of International Affairs and SISA (Sungshin International Student Association) arranged the *Plogging* volunteer work on June 20th 2024. This volunteer work was attended by 16 international students who are enrolled in Korean Language, undergraduate and graduate programs and Korean students from SISA. Despite the heat, students enthusiastically engaged in trash pick-up activities by cleaning not only the Seongbuk Stream walkway but also the surroundings. This activity received a lot of encouragement and support from local residents. We plan to provide more opportunities for community volunteer program in the future so please join us next time!

On May 20th, we welcomed Professor Jee Young Lee, Professor Raghavendra Gudur, and 12 Media Communications students from University of Canberra, Australia. Starting with a brief presentation on both Sungshin and University of Canberra, this meeting was a great opportunity to learn about both institutions' international programs and discuss future collaboration. Next up, our team was happy to give a campus tour from Woonjung Campus to Soojung Campus, where students got to explore our facilities and also try out Sungshin cafeteria meal for lunch. Moreover, students were able to participate in Sungshin's 'American Literature' class taught by Professor Chung Hye Yurn(English Language Literature).

Our university has successfully held the '2024 Spring Semester Sungshin Global Sports Day on May 19th Sunday at Soojung Campus. Sungshin Global Sports Day, which was held for the first time in our university, was organized by the International Affairs and Services Team and International Students Association(SISA), with support by International Education Institute and Graduate Academic Team. The main focus of the event was to provide a chance for international students to create unity network and to strengthen their bond with Sungshin. The participants of the Sports Day included all Sungshin international students such as undergraduate and graduate degree students, GKS government scholarship students, language course students, and exchange students. Eventually, 102 students from 13 countries, including Germany, Russia, Malaysia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Brazil, Austria, China, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Poland, France, and the Philippines. President SeongKeun Yi delivered an encouragement speech, stating, I hope all students will enjoy and have a healthy university life, and keep treasure of the connection with Sungshin. Furthermore, International Education Institute professors and faculty members in charge of international students management were also present cheering for the students creating a place of harmony. During the Sports Day, participants were divided into 8 teams and competed in 6 different games, including Ad-balloon, Tug-of-war, Flipping Boards, Queen Dodgeball, and Mission Relay. The event continued with a performance by the Sungshin Women's University Cheerleading Team (Flare) and a talent show by the international students who participated. Meanwhile, our university currently has 830 international students from 34 countries, with the growing number of international students, the International Affairs and Services Team is providing a variety of programs to help new students adjust to the university. From tutoring and mentoring to providing visa education for settling and working in Korea in cooperation with the Seoul Global Center, to athletic competitions and volunteer activities to foster friendship among students, we provide systematic support for international students in various areas such as academics, life, and career.

On May 2nd 2024, international students and SISA (Sungshin International Student Association) visited Gyeongbok Palace (경복궁) and tried on hanbok (한복) during the entire experience! We got to know each other more through touring Gyeongbok Palace together in the beautiful Spring weather. Ms. Mariia Chizova, exchange student from Far Eastern Federal University of Russia and Ms. Junghyun Min, coordinator of SISA assisted with explanations and commentary in English and Korean.Looking forward to more opportunities and students to join us next time!

SWU International Affairs and Services Team (Mr. Il Kim, Head Manager / Ms. Mi Jung Kim / Ms. Soyoung Shin) attended the '2024 Indonesia Study in Korea Education Fair' held from 2024 April 27th to 28th(Sat~Sun), hosted by the National Institute for International Education of the Korean Ministry of Education, Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Indonesia and KAIAS (Korean University Administrators' Association for International Students Admissions). The Exhibition was held in Jakarta, Indonesia and attended by 40 Korean universities. We met with over 250 Indonesian students and introduced our Undergraduate programs, including the new School of International Studies opening in Spring 2025 (English track - Global Korean Studies, Fashion Beauty Design / Korean track - Korean Education), Graduate programs and Korean Language programs. Many thanks goes to Ms. Anisa for interpretation throughout the event. We look forward to welcoming students from Indonesia to Sungshin soon!

From April 15th Monday to 18th Thursday, we welcomed Professor Altynai Beisembayeva, the Head Professor of the Department of Music from Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University in Kazakhstan. Dr. Yoonju Oh, our Dean of College of Music and Dr. Mihyun Ahn, Professor of Instrumental Music, met with Dr. Altynai to discuss cooperation in the field of music and signed agreements for future programs for students from both universities. Prof. Altynai and Ms. Polina, exchange student from Russia(Kazan Federal University)assisting with Russian-Korean interpretation.
