Sungshin Women’s University held a “Chuseok Celebration with International Students” event

Sungshin Women’s University (President Yi Seong-Keun) held the “Chuseok Together” event for international students on Monday, October 6, in the lobby of the Sungshin Hall on campus.
The event was organized to help international students, who spend the holiday period away from their families and hometowns, experience Korea’s traditional culture firsthand and share the warmth and spirit of community.
To share the meaning of Chuseok, Korea’s representative holiday, Sungshin Women’s University prepared a program where students could experience Korean cultural content — including tasting and making songpyeon (traditional rice cakes) and learning about Korean festive customs. Participants also shared songpyeon and enjoyed watching the animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters”, allowing them to experience the warmth of Korean family culture and the festive atmosphere.
President Yi Seong-Keun said, “Chuseok is a holiday that represents Korea’s warm family traditions. I hope this event allowed our international students to experience the spirit of jeong (affection and community) and feel a stronger sense of belonging as members of the Sungshin community.” He added, “We will continue to offer a variety of exchange programs to help our international students enjoy a culturally and emotionally fulfilling university life.”
As of the Fall 2025 semester, Sungshin Women’s University is home to about 1,400 international students from 42 countries and continues to operate various support programs that promote multicultural exchange and mutual understanding.
