Sungshin Women’s University Welcomes Delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences to Discuss Academic Cooperation

On September 8, 2026, Sungshin Women’s University welcomed a delegation from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), one of China’s leading national-level think tanks, to its Soojung Campus to discuss opportunities for academic exchange and cooperation between the two institutions.

The visit was organized to explore opportunities for expanding exchanges between researchers at Sungshin Women’s University and CASS, as well as to identify potential areas of substantive cooperation on major social issues concerning Korea and China.

During the meeting, President Sungkeun Yi recognized the expertise and academic excellence of CASS researchers and proposed expanding research cooperation, including the development of joint research projects involving researchers from CASS and faculty members from Sungshin Women’s University’s East Asia Research Institute and Department of Political Science and International Relations.

The two institutions also exchanged views on the possibility of organizing a joint seminar under the theme, “Mutual Perceptions of Young Generations in Korea and China in the AI and Digital Era.” The proposed seminar would provide opportunities for participation not only by faculty members and researchers but also by students from both institutions.

“It is important for academic institutions in Korea and China to identify shared research agendas and broaden the scope of exchange to include students,” President Sungkeun Yi said. “Sungshin Women’s University will provide its full support to ensure that this meeting develops into sustained and substantive academic cooperation.”

Building on this visit, Sungshin Women’s University plans to further explore opportunities for researcher exchanges and a joint youth seminar with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, with the aim of contributing to greater social and cultural understanding between Korea and China.
