Department of History began in 1972 as Department of Korean History Education of Sungshin Women's Teacher's College. It changed to Department of Korean History in 1977, which changed to Department of History in 1982. Starting in 1982, the department has published "Sungshin Historical Studies" and started the publication of "Collected Essays in Historical Studies" in 2000. Department of History has its scope of research categorized geographically into Korean history, Asian history, and Western history and by topic into political history, social economic history, cultural history, and archaeology. To conduct research in all these areas, our department goes beyond the regular coursework to implement academic field trips at home and abroad, field trip photo exhibitions, rubbings exhibitions, and scholarly seminars in spring and fall.
