Global Sports Day ‘Ready, Set; Sungshin!’ for International Students

On April 12, 2025, Sungshin Women’s University held the Spring 2025 International Student Sports Day: “Ready, Set; Sungshin!” at its Soojung Campus in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. The event brought together international students from 14 different countries, including undergraduate and graduate students, GKS scholars, language trainees, and exchange students currently studying at the university.

Participants engaged in classic sports day activities such as tug-of-war, dodgeball, and relay races, experiencing the unique spirit of a Korean-style sports festival while building friendships and promoting multicultural communication.

Davaanyam Maral, a student from Mongolia majoring in K-Culture & Entertainment under the Division of International Studies, shared: “It was so much fun to participate in traditional Korean sports events that I had only seen in dramas. Being on a team with students from many different countries and cheering each other on helped us become closer naturally.”

The event was part of Sungshin’s continued commitment to fostering a global campus environment. The university has maintained the highest rating for 11 consecutive years in the Ministry of Education’s International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), affirming its excellence in international education.

In addition, starting from the 2025 academic year, Sungshin launched a new Division of International Studies with specialized majors for international students, including:

• Global Korean Studies (Korean Language Track)
• K-Culture & Entertainment (English Track)
• Beauty & Fashion Design (English Track)

Through initiatives like this sports day and its expanding academic programs, Sungshin Women’s University continues to strengthen its role in cultivating global talent and fostering intercultural exchange.
