Sungshin Women’s University Strengthens Ties with Myanmar Through Study Abroad Fairs and Institutional Engagement
From May 8 to 12, 2025, Sungshin Women’s University visited Myanmar to conduct study abroad fairs, applicant interviews, and institutional cooperation meetings across Yangon, Taunggyi, and Pindaya.
In Taunggyi, on May 10, the team held a large scale study abroad fair at Jasmine Taunggyi Hotel, attended by over 100 prospective students and parents. The session included a presentation introducing Sungshin’s academic offerings, admissions process, scholarship opportunities, and a Q&A segment. A promotional video featuring a current student from Myanmar at Sungshin was also screened. Follow-up counseling was provided to three official applicants from the Taunggyi branch.
In Pindaya, a more focused information session and student consultation were held on May 11 at Phue Phue Language Center. Approximately 20 students participated. Discussions included Sungshin’s programs and admissions pathways.
Institutional engagement included a meeting with Yangon Music Center on May 9. The institution, led by Dr. Monaing, the only piano PhD holder in Myanmar, expressed intent to develop a music-focused college and explore a joint degree program with Sungshin Women’s University in the future.
The delegation also visited Sungshin’s local partner offices in Taunggyi and Yangon to review ongoing recruitment operations. Discussions covered admissions requirements, financial policies, and promotional strategies, including the possibility of creating a dedicated social media presence for recruitment.
On May 12 in Yangon, Sungshin conducted a major study abroad fair at Novotel Yangon Max with over 100 participants. In parallel, 20 applicants were interviewed. A subsequent partnership meeting with I TOP EDU, local study abroad agency, covered admissions criteria, and marketing strategies. The agency indicated strong student interest in English-taught tracks and proposed collaboration.
This visit marks the beginning of Sungshin Women’s University’s efforts to recruit more students from Myanmar.
