‘2025 Korea-ASEAN Talent Development and Cultural Exchange Program’ Builds Bridges of Friendship Beyond Culture
– 30 participants from 3 countries visit Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand in turn, laying the foundation for global leadership

Participants of the 2025 Summer Korea-ASEAN Talent Development and Cultural Exchange Program, held over 22 days across three countries, pose for a commemorative photo during their visit to Vietnam.
Sungshin Women’s University (President Seong-Keun Yi) announced on the 28th that it successfully held the “2025 Summer Korea-ASEAN Talent Development and Cultural Exchange Program” in collaboration with the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and Thammasat University in Thailand.
Launched on July 7 during the summer vacation, this three-nation program brought together a total of 30 students—10 from each country (Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand). Over the course of 21 nights and 22 days, students spent 7 nights and 8 days in each country. The itinerary included language and history classes, cultural experiences, field trips, and team projects, all aimed at promoting mutual cultural understanding and nurturing global sensibilities in a joint international education setting.
Conducted entirely in English, the program goes beyond conventional overseas study. It was first launched in 2023 with the goal of fostering the next generation of global leaders by encouraging cultural understanding and friendship through mutual visits. Now in its second year, the initiative has become one of Sungshin Women’s University’s flagship summer global programs.
President Seong-Keun Yi remarked,
“This gathering of Korean and ASEAN youth is more than a cultural exchange—it marks the beginning of a shared future. I hope that, over the course of these 22 days, each participant discovers their potential and grows into a global leader with international insight.”
Hye-ju Lee, a third-year law student at Sungshin who participated in the program, shared her experience:
“Over the three weeks, I introduced Korean culture in Vietnam and Thailand and immersed myself in the local cultures as well. This helped me grow significantly as a global talent. By interacting and collaborating with students from other countries, I developed a deeper understanding of cultural differences and broadened my international perspective.”
Meanwhile, Sungshin Women’s University continues to actively expand global opportunities for its students by offering multi-national regional talent development programs during summer and winter breaks, including Korea-ASEAN, Korea-China-Japan, and Korea–Central Asia initiatives. The university also runs overseas scholarship programs for the six official UN languages (Russian, Spanish, Arabic, English, Chinese, and French), providing students with diverse pathways for international experience and career exploration. As a result of these sustained efforts, Sungshin Women’s University ranked 10th nationwide and 6th among Seoul-based universities in terms of credit exchange rate with foreign universities relative to new student enrollment, achieving a notable 21.2% according to the 2024 University Information Disclosure data.
