Aware that geography takes the central role for all social sciences, Department of Geography sets the centerpiece of its educational goal in building the ability to comprehensively figure out society and culture through spatial approaches. Students of Department of Geography study systematic geography, which pursues the spatial structure of regions and the laws and theories about their development, regional geography, which illuminates the characteristics of regions at home and abroad, environmental geography, which understand the regional environment and analyzes the current status and causes of environmental questions from a geographical perspective, computer geography and Geographical Information System (GIS), which systematically handle vast geographical data, and the theory of regional development, an area of application which creates and evaluates actual plans through the earlier-mentioned research achievements and by developing techniques.
