Sungshin Women’s University (President Seong Keun Yi) successfully concluded its “2025 Ultimate Styling with K-Beauty and Culture” summer school program, held from June 29 to July 19, 2025, for faculty and students from international partner universities.
A total of 23 faculty members and students participated in the program, recommended by 11 partner universities across seven countries: the United States, Canada, Luxembourg, France, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Through an integrated curriculum that included level-based Korean language classes, K-beauty hands-on training, and traditional cultural experiences, participants gained structured exposure to the Korean language and culture.
The program, built on the specialized curriculum of Sungshin’s Department of Beauty Industry, featured practical courses such as cosmetic formulation (lip balm & aroma perfume), K-pop star makeup, personal image making, special effects makeup, K-trend hairstyling, and personal color analysis. With a blend of theory and practice, participants had the opportunity to learn a wide range of K-beauty techniques firsthand.
In addition to attending weekly Korean language classes, participants engaged in cultural activities including visits to the Korean Folk Museum, traditional hanbok experiences, and classes in traditional crafts and cuisine. The combination of Korean language education and hands-on cultural immersion received enthusiastic feedback from the international participants.
By staying in Sungshin’s dormitories and attending classes on campus, participants experienced a living environment similar to that of Korean university students, deepening their understanding of campus life in Korea. Moreover, through exchange activities with Sungshin students who are scheduled to study abroad in the second semester of the 2025 academic year, international participants were able to naturally build friendships, share cultures, and enhance their global perspective.
This summer school not only strengthened ties with overseas partner institutions but also further elevated the status of Sungshin’s Department of Beauty Industry as a K-beauty hub, showcasing its high-quality educational capabilities to the international community. Sungshin Women’s University plans to expand this program into a credit-bearing, major-specific model to attract more international short-term students and establish a robust global exchange framework.
