University Fair in Vietnam and Myanmar to Enhance International Exchange and Student Recruitmen Sungshin Women s University recently completed a strategic overseas mission to Vietnam and Myanmar from July 5 to July 15, 2025, aimed at expanding international student recruitment and strengthening partnerships with local institutions and agencies. The university members from Office of International and External Affairs, participated in multiple academic fairs and institutional meetings across Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Hanoi in Vietnam and Yangon in Myanmar. Key activities included: Participation in the 2025 Korea Study Abroad FairHosted by Nhat Phong Agency in Ho Chi Minh City, where Sungshin Women s University attracted over 80 students, including significant interest in its undergraduate and language programs. Launched on July 7 during the summer vacation, this three-nation program brought together a total of 30 students 10 from each country (Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand). Over the course of 21 nights and 22 days, students spent 7 nights and 8 days in each country. The itinerary included language and history classes, cultural experiences, field trips, and team projects, all aimed at promoting mutual cultural understanding and nurturing global sensibilities in a joint international education setting.Conducted entirely in English, the program goes beyond conventional overseas study. It was first launched in 2023 with the goal of fostering the next generation of global leaders by encouraging cultural understanding and friendship through mutual visits. Now in its second year, the initiative has become one of Sungshin Women s University s flagship summer global programs. A total of 23 faculty members and students participated in the program, recommended by 11 partner universities across seven countries: the United States, Canada, Luxembourg, France, the Czech Republic, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. Through an integrated curriculum that included level-based Korean language classes, K-beauty hands-on training, and traditional cultural experiences, participants gained structured exposure to the Korean language and culture.The program, built on the specialized curriculum of Sungshin s Department of Beauty Industry, featured practical courses such as cosmetic formulation (lip balm aroma perfume), K-pop star makeup, personal image making, special effects makeup, K-trend hairstyling, and personal color analysis. With a blend of theory and practice, participants had the opportunity to learn a wide range of K-beauty techniques firsthand. In addition to attending weekly Korean language classes, participants engaged in cultural activities including visits to the Korean Folk Museum, traditional hanbok experiences, and classes in traditional crafts and cuisine. Sungshin supports international students with diverse community engagement programs Sungshin Women s University (President Seong Keun Yi) announced that on July 11, international students took part in a plogging volunteer activity jogging while picking up litter around the Seongbukcheon area, contributing to environmental cleanup in the local community. The activity ran from 5 PM to 7 PM and involved international students from seven different countries currently enrolled in language programs, undergraduate, and graduate courses at the university. The group also included students on the Government Scholarship for International Students (GKS), reflecting broad voluntary participation from the international student community. Co-organized by the Office of International Exchange Programs and the Sungshin International Student Association (SISA), the event was designed to give international students the opportunity to experience their role as active and responsible members of the local community.Participants carried out cleanup activities for about an hour, starting near Seongbukcheon close to Sungshin s campus and continuing to the Bomun-dong Community Service Center. The session focused on essential pre-departure information, procedures, and preparation. The pre-departure training was conducted in two phases:1. A joint session for all language groups2. Separate sessions tailored to specific language regionsThe joint session covered key topics such as immigration document submission, safety measures, a special lecture on enhancing global competence, credit transfer procedures, and scholarship systems offering practical information to establish a foundation for study abroad preparation. In the second phase, students were divided into five language groups English, Japanese, Chinese, German, and French. Each session featured tailored content focusing on the cultural characteristics and everyday life information specific to the respective regions. This comprehensive training program was meaningful in that it helped students not only understand the necessary pre-departure procedures but also prepare in-depth for academics and daily life in their destination countries boosting their readiness and adaptability. Following the training, the Office of International Exchange Programs at Sungshin Women s University hosted an Information Session on International Exchange Programs for the First Semester of the 2026 Academic Year on July 2. The hybrid session (both online and offline) attracted 198 participants, reflecting strong interest in the university s global programs. The session introduced various international exchange opportunities offered by Sungshin, including semester-long exchange programs, summer/winter short-term programs, and the Sungshin Global Friends initiative. Participants were also provided with real-life experiences shared by previous outbound students, as well as detailed information on application procedures, eligibility requirements, and scholarship options. In the second semester of the 2025 academic year, Sungshin Women s University plans to send 132 students to 67 partner universities across 20 countries through exchange programs. Additionally, 127 students will participate in summer short-term programs. Among them, 107 students have been selected for nine language-specific programs, while 10 students each will take part in the Korea-China-Japan Asia Women s Leadership Program and the Korea-ASEAN Talent Development and Cultural Exchange Program. In total, 259 students are expected to participate in international study and training programs during the second semester and summer period of the 2025 academic year. Sungshin Women s University has been selected as a participating institution for the 2025 Korea-Japan Student Exchange Program, organized by the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education.Launched in 2024, the Korea-Japan Student Exchange Program aims to enhance educational cooperation and mutual understanding between young people in Korea and Japan. The program provides scholarships to exchange students recommended by domestic universities. Through this selection, Sungshin Women s University will dispatch 34 students to 16 partner universities in Japan during the second semester, beginning in September. Among them, five students will be nominated as scholarship candidates by the university. Final scholarship recipients, selected through NIIED s review process, will receive a monthly stipend of 700,000 KRW and round-trip airfare for one semester. Meanwhile, Sungshin Women s University was also selected for the Korea-Japan Joint Higher Education Student Exchange Program Undergraduate Short-Term Course for the fourth consecutive year in January. Kazakh Student and Teacher Visit Sungshin Women's University to Explore Study Opportunities in KoreaOn June 17, 2025, a student and Korean language teacher from Kazakhstan visited Sungshin Women's University to participate in a campus tour and academic consultation for international students interested in studying in Korea.The delegation included Choi Hyun-sil, Korean language instructor active in Kazakhstan since 2020; Aliya, a high school student who is planning to study abroad in Korea, who is currently residing in a dormitory in Almaty and expected to graduate in June 2026; and Park Sarang, Choi s daughter, accompanying the group during her school break.This visit followed an initial engagement at the Korea Study Abroad Fair in Kazakhstan held on April 27, 2025, where Sungshin Women's University participated.
